Audit Manager - Berrien Springs (Full-Time)

This is a Hybrid Work Eligible position. You will be required to come into the Operations Center in Berrien Springs, MI as needed to ensure business needs are met.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:


  • Manages the internal audit function, enhances audit processes, and ensures compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Develops and maintains an annual risk-based audit plan for the organization, performing comprehensive audits, and conducting investigations.
  • Documents and communicates audit results, prepares detailed reports, and acts as a liaison.
  • Ensures compliance with laws and regulations, identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Effectively allocates resources, maintains audit software, and provides consultation on accounting, controls, and compliance matters.
  • Recruits, trains, coaches, and evaluates the Internal Audit Team.
  • Sets goals for the team, conducts performance appraisals, and promotes a positive work environment.
  • Actively sources and maintains up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements, audit techniques, industry trends, and participates in professional development opportunities to continuously enhance auditing skills and knowledge.
  • Maintains the integrity and efficiency of the credit union's operations, ensuring that internal controls are effective, and fostering a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.


WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:


  • A college degree required. Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field; or an equivalent combination training and work experience.
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or industry equivalent is highly preferred.


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


  • Five to eight years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in internal auditing, risk management, compliance, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of managing and leading audit teams.
  • Experience in developing and executing risk-based audit plans.
  • Familiarity with conducting fraud investigations and special audits. T


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:


  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, risk, audit or appropriate experience related to the financial industry.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to keep finances in order.
  • Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 products.
  • Strong project management skills and well-organized.
  • Handle issues with tact, diplomacy, and an appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.
