Hill International is seeking a Project Engineer in Alexandria, Virginia

This is a 3-5 year project supporting one of the largest transit organizations in the United States. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring successful initiation and planning or projects, aiding the project delivery team in developing executable projects that maximize value to the authority through effective risk transfer and efficient construction.



  • Assist in defining project scope, schedule, and budget, developing detailed implementation plans, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring thorough documentation and communication to meet project objectives on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders and ensure submission and quality of deliverables; support the development of detailed implementation plans; monitor project progress and address potential issues.
  • Prepare and maintain critical project documentation, such as project charters, and reports; assist with permit analysis and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as a point of contact for stakeholders, facilitating effective communication; arrange and participate in meetings, document decisions, and address stakeholder concerns.
  • Collaborate with finance and grants teams on funding, support resource allocation and cost management.
  • Ensure compliance with standards and regulations; support quality control processes, conduct site inspections, and contribute to the improvement of project management tools.


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 3-7 years experience in design or process engineering, plant operations or start-up, and/or field construction, or equivalent working knowledge, experience, and/or an advanced degree.
  • Experience in Construction Phase project management.
  • Must be willing to work on-site 4 days a week in Alexandria, VA or New Carrolton, MD.
