Position Summary

As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the Thermal and Life Support System Analysis section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract.

Someone in this role would typically have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of two (2) years of experience. This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.

**International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available**


Duties And Responsibilities

Some of your major responsibilities will include:

* Perform and guide analysis efforts to:- Simulate and evaluate performance of passive thermal control systems for future NASA vehicles and habitats including the Orion spacecraft and vehicles capable of lunar or Mars missions.

* Develop thermal models of space hardware or test equipment using Thermal Desktop analysis software and first principal models with standard desktop software.

* Correlate thermal models to flight and test results.

* Assisting in day-to-day activities including internal NASA JSC task and work package planning, technical evaluations, hardware development and verification, reviewing and providing input related to products and documentation to partners and programs.

* Work to provide solutions to problems that arise during hardware development and on-orbit operation phases. Assisting in the identification of anomalies and providing engineering recommendations, as required, for resolution of associated issues.

* Participation in various aspects of integration of the Orion vehicle systems and vehicles Orion docks with, including technical reviews, operation plans, review of contractor provided data to close technical requirements, including waivers and exceptions.

* Provide passive thermal control guidance supporting a broad range of inter-disciplinary - development, design, test, and verification activities, including Program boards, panels, working groups, problem resolution teams, and other technical forums to ensure hardware performance meets all specified requirements.

* Support testing and inspection activities at vehicle build site.

* Perform other duties as required.


Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • A BS Engineering degree from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
  • Proficient with Thermal Desktop/SINDA/AutoCAD.
  • Experience with programming in FORTRAN.
  • Experience working with complex, vehicle level models with multiple system interactions.
  • Excellent technical writing skills and the ability to use data to draw conclusions and - support the conclusions when challenged. hardware.

PREFERRED :

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited engineering school.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering analysis experience related to passive thermal control systems.
  • Experience with developing and reviewing thermal simulation models of spacecraft hardware and systems at varying levels of fidelity ranging from detailed, first-principal - models to more descriptive lumped-parameter models.
  • Experience with thermal requirements definition and validation of space flight hardware.
  • Knowledge of programming in one or more of the following: Python or MATLAB.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
