Job Summary

As a Sous Chef at Genesis House, you will play a pivotal role in the successful operation of the Culinary Department. Genesis House offers an exceptional fine dining experience featuring distinctly Korean cuisine. Your responsibilities will include supervising, preparing, and cooking various food items, developing daily menu items, and ensuring their preparation and garnishment. You will collaborate closely with the Executive Chef to develop new menus and assist with ordering. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an energetic, entrepreneurial culinary professional to work in a unique and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in managing cost controls and controlling expenditures for the account.
  • Help plan and create menus alongside the Executive Chef.
  • Produce and execute catering events.
  • Implement new culinary programs in collaboration with the company's marketing and culinary team.
  • Supervise hourly associates and ensure proper training and development.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies.
  • Develop and test new recipes to enhance the menu offerings.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and customer satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A.S. degree or equivalent experience in culinary arts or restaurant management.
  • Progressive experience in fine dining or upscale restaurant environments.
  • Proven track record in menu development and execution.
  • Strong background in Korean cuisine is highly desirable.
  • Experience in high-volume, complex foodservice operations.
  • Expertise in food cost controls, quality assurance, and sanitation standards.
  • Proficiency with restaurant management software and tools.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • ServSafe certification is highly desirable.
