Job Summary
The Spiro laboratory at The University of Texas at Dallas seeks to hire a post-doctoral Research Associate. The successful candidate will investigate mechanisms of gene regulation, specifically as they relate to methylotrophic metabolism in the Gram-negative bacterium Paracoccus denitrificans.

Ph.D in a related field.

A PhD in a relevant field is required. We will consider applicants with a pending PhD defense.

Research experience in bacterial genetics, molecular biology and biochemistry. Experience mentoring other researchers, including undergraduates and graduate students. Record of publication and presentations at conferences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will engage in, and direct, research in molecular microbiology. This will include, but not necessarily be limited to: construction of mutants, DNA manipulation, RNA isolation, transcriptomics, protein purification and characterization. The successful candidate will also contribute to the supervision of students and other researchers in the laboratory and have some lab manager responsibilities.

After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. May be required to use personal computer and other standard office equipment. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
