Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator for the Clinical Research Center at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Under the direction of the CRC Nurse Manager, the Clinical Research Coordinator performs research and administrative duties for the department. Works with Nurse manager to prepare work schedules and approve/monitor requested time off for research staff to ensure adequate coverage. Assists Nurse Manager with training new staff and ensuring all staff have current clinical research competencies, licensure and certifications. Acts as a role model/mentor for research staff. Works with Nurse Manager and CRC Leadership in developing and implementing performance improvement projects for research areas. Functions as study coordinator for assigned studies, including subject recruitment, consenting, data entry, phlebotomy and other clinical trial activities. Oversees/supervises schedules/responsibilities of Clinical Research coordinator II (2).

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Proactive engagement and anticipation of clinical research needs. Meet regularly with all PIs to develop a smooth and efficient process for carrying out their trials in accordance with study protocol and GCP regulations.
  • Assists nurse manager by meeting with study coordinators to develop a specific recruitment plan for each study in order to reach recruitment targets.
  • Supervise/oversee responsibilities and schedules of clinical research coordinators (2).
  • Serves as staff resource, developing and providing expertise to research patients and their families in the management of clinical research trials.
  • Assist nurse manager with staff training and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
  • Review study accrual numbers versus expected targets. Develop and implement necessary changes to optimize study accrual in consultation with CRC leadership. Organize and effectively communicate accrual status and outcomes with staff, Nurse manager and CRC Director.
  • Develop and promote cooperative working relationships with other RWJMS and RWJUH departments and community agencies as needed for studies assigned.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • A bachelor degree in a health related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years clinical research experience is required, (5) five yrs preferred.
  • Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.

  • The ability to work independently and have excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and flexibility are required.
  • Work requires a high level of problem-solving skills and the ability to function in a team environment.
