Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.unc.edu) is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. The School teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students. Position Summary
The primary purposes of this Research Technician position are to (1) develop automated processes for image analysis that have been completed manually to this point, and (2) develop a user interface for these processes that will allow any internal user to execute automated analyses. The Technician will write code and use various programs and methods, including training artificial intelligence programs, to develop these automated processes. The images to be analyzed will be biological in nature; specifically, dissected pieces of tissue from several organs which are being cultured ex vivo. The Technician will incorporate these automated methods within Amazon Web Services ( AWS) and will work with AWS representatives to achieve desired goals.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
* Experience with coding languages such as Python and C++
* Experience using analysis software such as Matlab, GraphPad PRISM, BioDock, and the AWS ecosystem
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Course work in Biomedical Engineering or similar
* Experience in benchtop laboratory techniques such as cell culture, staining assays, and in vivo assays
* Experience in fluorescence and bioluminescence imaging of in vitro and in vivo biological samples
* Experience in standard data analysis methods of the above techniques
* Experience with technical writing
