The Johnson County Community Developmental Disabilities Organization (CDDO) is the single point of entry for IDD services in Johnson County. As a provision of the Developmental Disabilities Reform Act, a CDDO has been designated for every area of the state to help coordinate services and supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). We are searching for a Resource Specialist. Initial review of candidates will start April 8, 2025.

Responsibilities include:

    Leads the development of a High Performing Organization through active demonstration of the county's Pillars of Performance, encouraging leadership and empowerment at all levels of the organization; dedicates QII activities for self and staff, actively mentors, coaches and collaborates with employees to enhance the county mission and vision keeping in mind the common goal of leaving out community better than when we found it.
  • Assess individuals to identify needs/services.
  • Network with agencies to coordinate for families.
  • Conducts assessments for transfers, including Crisis exceptions, and Waiver transitions.
  • Completes and submits documents into EHR.
  • Network with community services to find additional resources.


Job Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Three (3) years of experience working in the intellectual/developmental disabilities field or a related field is required.

A bachelor's degree in human services, social services, rehabilitation, education, or related field is preferred. Knowledge of state regulations and best practices related to the I/DD field, familiarity with Federal and State benefits for individuals with disabilities, and experience with HCBS service system is preferred. Previous case management experience is also preferred.

Education may substitute for experience and experience may substitute for education.

Candidate must have a valid driver's license and able to successfully complete criminal and motor vehicle background screenings, which includes KDADS required screenings and registry checks.
