Software Engineer III
The Role

As a Software Engineer III, you will own end-to-end delivery for projects of varying complexity, translating requirements into scalable systems. You will serve as a technical resource for your pod and mentor junior engineers.


What You'll Do

  • Lead design and development of complex backend or full-stack features.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to define scope, requirements, and timelines.
  • Implement solutions that emphasize reliability, scale, security, and performance.
  • Contribute to improving CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and developer tooling.
  • Mentor junior engineers, such as through design reviews and pair programming.


Tech Stack You'll Work With Your work will span Datavant's core platform technologies, including:



  • Backend: Python, Go, Java; microservices; REST and GraphQL
  • Frontend: TypeScript, React, Next.js
  • Infrastructure & Cloud: AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda), Docker, Kubernetes; IaC tools
  • Data: Snowflake, Spark, SQL; S3 for raw data
  • ETL & Pipelines: Airflow/Glue
  • Streaming: Kafka or Kinesis
  • Observability: DataDog, Grafana, CloudWatch
  • Security: OAuth2/SAML, encryption, tokenization


What You Bring

  • 3-6 years of software engineering experience, ideally within enterprise SaaS or healthcare tech.
  • Strong technical depth in distributed systems and API design/development.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and observability tools (DataDog, CloudWatch).
  • Proficiency in AWS architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and modern frameworks.
  • Ability to balance execution and architectural foresight.

The range posted is for a given job title, which can include multiple levels. Individual rates for the same job title may differ based on their level, responsibilities, skills, and experience for a specific job.

The estimated total cash compensation range for this role is:
$120,000 $185,000 USD
