Test Dates:
This exam schedule allows you at least 4 weeks of study and preparation time. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS This is highly responsible technical or specialized work. Work involves supervisory responsibility for the operation and maintenance of an assigned police service unit or operation. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Police Captain, Assistant Chief of Police and/or Chief of Police and is reviewed through the conferences, reports, and evaluation of results.

SALARY, BARGAINING UNIT & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT This position is included in a collective bargaining agreement with Elm City Local of the CT Alliance of City Police, formerly Local 530, Council 15, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO. General Funded hires into this class are not covered by Social Security and will not pay Social Security taxes. They instead participate in the City Pension; the employee contribution rate is 12% of pay. Selection Plan Applicants meeting minimum requirements will be invited to participate in a Civil Service exam process at a later date. Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the minimum requirements as listed within the job description; failure to do so may result in disqualification.
