How you will help us create value together: As a Business Intelligence (BI) Intern, you will be responsible for a range of support activities for the Surface Factory Analytics team. The Surface Factory Analytics team develops applications and produces data visualizations for both external and internal customers. Activities will include designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines, interactive dashboards and reports that identify trends, patterns, and insights from data to support strategic decision-making. This in-office position will be based at our South Harbor location in Milwaukee's Harbor District. The target start date for this role is Summer 2025 and has the potential to be extended into the Fall 2025 school semester. We offer full-time hours during the summer and flexible part-time hours during the academic year. This internship position is not eligiblefor remote work during the Summer. Financial relocation assistance to the Milwaukee-area is not available. Key Job Responsibilities Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for data needs, process optimization and improvement Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines, interactive dashboards and reports for business stakeholders Contribute to data cleansing, transformation, and enrichment processes to ensure data accuracy and quality Participate in requirements gathering sessions to understand the information needs of different departments Help identify trends, patterns, and insights from data to support strategic decision-making Learn and utilize data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Plotly) to present data in meaningful ways Support ad-hoc data analysis and reporting requests from different business units Assist in the documentation of BI processes and methodologies Basic Qualifications Pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or similar, from an accredited college or university Junior, senior, or graduate level student in good academic standing Solid understanding of basic business concepts and the role of data in decision-making Proficiency with at least one data visualization tool (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Plotly) Familiarity with data manipulation and querying languages (e.g., SQL) Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a collaborative team environment Effective communication skills and ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner Preferred Qualifications Previous internship or project experience involving business intelligence or data analysis Coursework or projects related to business intelligence, data analysis, or data visualization Proficient in using SQL for the manipulation of big data Familiarity with cloud-based database technologies (e.g., Snowflake, InfluxDB) Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python, R) is a plus Familiarity with data engineering techniques Familiarity with database architecture and design Additional Information What makes Komatsu's intern program unique?
