About the Role

The Semiconductor Applications Support Engineer role in North America is a challenging opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to expand their knowledge and skills. The ideal candidate will to foster lasting customer relationships, respond promptly to new requests, provide timely on-site support, and troubleshoot as necessary.

The role requires responsive, concise technical communication to determine customer requirements and translate them into product and service designs and installations. Consultation and support with internal team members are required to manage the supply chain, product design, prototype manufacturing, and logistics. New product development is not primary to the role, but participation, by consultation or as a core team member, is expected, including project planning and execution. The ideal candidate can work independently, be a technical mentor, and build internal and customer partnerships. Training for this role will be conducted primarily in San Jose, CA, but may require traveling to other Watlow and customer sites.

The primary responsibilities of this role are to:




  • Understand Watlow end-user customer applications.
  • Troubleshoot customer issues.
  • Identify new applications for Watlow to provide solutions to our end-user customers.
  • Identify issues with Watlow product and service performance and provide user requirements.
  • Manage installations and customer qualifications for production.



Other Key Responsibilities



  • Represent Watlow to our valued customers and ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Expert knowledge in Watlow product and service applications and ensuring proper installation while identifying and understanding customer needs.
  • Lead significant project implementation or introduction of new products, services, and technologies.
  • Technically lead developmental and commercialized products by optimizing material application processes and directly interacting with customers to troubleshoot and solve product and process-related problems.
  • She/he ensures that customers can successfully employ new and existing products in a manner that brings clear and identifiable value.
  • Drive the development of an end-to-end customer experience, from identifying new value propositions to enhancing customer service.
  • Create joint value and leverage customer feedback to align global/regional BU projects.
  • Work with outside vendors and external teams to collect and confirm business and technical requirements.
  • Field application assessment and troubleshooting - lab testing for product performance and benchmarking remote and/or in-person specification requirements review, including travel to customer sites.
  • Air travel to Watlow locations for training and onsite meetings, potentially up to 70% of the time, along with customer site support, will be necessary.
  • Air travel to customer sites may be required up to 70% of the time to support new opportunities or address domestic and international troubleshooting needs in conjunction with visits to Watlow sites.



Required Qualifications



  • An advanced degree in a Field of Specialization, a bachelor's in engineering or a related field, and 7-10 years of job experience.
  • Expert in ESC pedestal applications in LAM and Applied Materials for dry etch equipment.
  • 10-15+ years of experience in Applied Material and LAM Dry Etch Equipment & Processes. Knowledge of any other vendor hardware or processes is a plus.
  • Experienced with troubleshooting Dry Etch equipment and process issues.
  • Thorough understanding of the Dry Etch Processes.
  • Experience with RF- matches and networks.
  • Experience working with customers to qualify equipment improvements for production.



The base pay range for this role is between $97,243 to $130,610 annually. You are also eligible for employee benefits and annual performance bonuses. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
