Corporate Functions HR Business Partner POSITION SUMMARY

Purpose

As a member of the Corporate Functions HR, the incumbent is responsible for providing both strategic and operational HR support and leadership to senior leaders and employees in the following global corporate functions and business areas: Finance; Investor Relations; Government Relations; Community Relations; Digital Technology; Legal; Corporate Communications.

This includes proactively partnering, guiding and influencing global functional leaders at multiple levels in support of the Company's business strategies and direction. Leveragesthe leadership model to build a people development mindset and lead the execution of action plans to engage and develop talent.

Provides HR support as a business partner in all areas of human resources management with an emphasis on: transformation and change management; talent acquisition and offer strategies; talent reviews, succession planning, and career development; escalations of employee relations concerns and problem resolution; advancing diversity, inclusion and belonging; performance management; organization design and restructuring; compensation management to include recognition and retention strategies; position evaluation; employee engagement; workforce reductions; and policy design/interpretation. Incumbent must quickly identify business needs and critical talent issues, support the creation of a workforce strategy, employ change management principles to implement solutions, and coach others through ongoing change.

Nature & Scope

The incumbent is the trusted HR partner and coach to leaders within Company's Finance; Investor Relations; Government Relations; Community Relations; Digital Technology; Law, Corporate Communications functions.

Collaborates and partners with regional HR Business Partners in support of the global corporate functions within the regions (Americas, Asia, Europe/Africa, Middle East & India). Supports global alignment in these organizations where it makes sense, allowing for regional variations within the global standards where appropriate. Advances employee engagement and company culture in these locations, as well as transformational efforts as required.

Collaborates effectively with Centers of Expertise such as Total Rewards, Talent, Culture and Engagement (Talent Acquisition, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging, Talent Management, Learning and Capability development), and MyHR Services & Operationsto develop, deliver and promote initiatives in line with the business needs.Partners with Legal on litigation avoidance.

Principal Accountabilities:

Business Partner: Provides guidance and direction on a broad range of strategic HR services to the respectiveCorporate Function leaders and acts aschange agent to promote transformation and Strategic Workforce Planning.Develops and maintains partnerships with managers and leaders to provide proactive coaching, feedback, guidance, andsupport on all people related issues and challenges.Participates as an integral member of leadership teams supported and provides credible insights to help inform decisions related to people and the organization.Develops and drives comprehensive, cost-effective, HR solutions to meet business needs. Specific areas of responsibility include the following:

  • Develops strong, trusted partnerships with leaders to understand, guide, and advise on strategic business and people matters
  • Evaluates and executes priorities in a fast-changing environment using a well-organized and disciplined approach
  • Partners with business leaders and HR colleagues to support the development of comprehensive strategic workforce plans designed to ensure global functions have the talent and organizational capabilities required to achieve both short-term and longer-term business objectives
  • Supports efforts to establish a talent management process designed to ensure a robust leadership pipeline exists for critical leadership roles across the global functions
  • Partners with leaders and centralized recruiting resources to support the talent acquisition process
  • Champions diversity, inclusion, and belonging and drives our D&I goals and initiatives
  • Understands and monitors workforce trends using data to develop action plans which increase overall employee engagement and retention. Drivesculture change and models Air Products competencies and growth mindset while expecting the same from leaders supported.
  • Resolves employee relations issues at senior levels of the organization when escalated from MyHR (Employee Relations team). Conducts sensitive investigations at leadership level when appropriate.
  • Collaborates with the Total Rewards team to ensure competitive market pay and incentives and retention packages are effective in meeting business needs.Provide senior management with analytical information and insights (employee metrics, turnover reports, survey information, pay equity, and compensation information) to facilitate business decisions.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends, benchmarks and applicable employment legislation and laws to ensure compliance.Understands policies and practices in the US and in other countries where there is critical mass of employees in organizations supported.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, HR or related field is required, Master's degree preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience in People Operations / Human Resources
  • Functions effectively across a global, fast-paced, highly matrixed organization with a high work ethic
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to influence managers and leaders across the organization
  • Project management skills, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Experience with transformation and change management work is preferred and courage to take unpopular positions when needed is a plus
  • Effective in managing conflict, dealing with controversy and mediating situation to a positive result
