Purpose/ Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Masker to join our team, specializing in surface preparation for grit blasting and plasma spraying. The Masker plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity and precision of coated parts by accurately protecting designated areas from coating application. This position requires precision, technical expertise, and a strong understanding of surface masking techniques.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Proficient at masking and surface preparation of parts for grit blasting and plasma spraying.
• Applying high temperature tape to metal to protect areas of the part that do not require coating.
• Prepare parts for coating processes by cleaning and inspecting surfaces to ensure they are free from contaminants.
• Follow precise masking guidelines to safeguard specific areas of parts from grit blasting and plasma spraying
• Apply high-temperature tapes, plugs, caps, and other masking materials to metal parts to ensure coating is confined to specified areas.
• Cut and shape masking materials with precision to conform to complex geometries and tight tolerances.
• Read and use calibrated tooling and equipment such as but not limited to vernier calipers, height gages, pi-tapes, plug gages, go/no go gages and micrometers
• Demonstrate a good mechanical aptitude.
• Fully understands and follows the Plasma Tech plan requirements for production assignments.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Language Skills

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blueprints.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before employees in the organization.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Skills

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram forms.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
