Summary
The Utility Worker performs routine outage and non-outage tasks as assigned as well as other maintenance support work activities at Palo Verde. Completes all work by complying with company and departmental policies, procedures and guidelines. Minimum Requirements
High school diploma/GED. Ability to document all work performed in accordance with applicable procedures. Basic mechanical skills. Prepare metals, fiberglass and other types surfaces to perform coating applications. Major Accountabilities
1) Support maintenance with priority, scheduled and outage activities. Cleaning, preparing and monitoring vessels and associated equipment for inspection and repair. 2) Support chemical handling and clean-up as required for Operations activities. 3) Assist maintenance and engineering which may include layout, grade work, form, pour and coat degraded support columns, floors, sump walls, sludge drying beds, clarifiers, thickeners and tops of silos. 4) May assist as assigned with breakdown of equipment. May provide inventory and transfer material including vehicle/forklift operations as needed between units and Water Resources. 5) Performs specialized tasks in support of Unit outages as required which may include: hazardous material cleanup activities, maintenance and operations support, sump inventory control, evaporation pond liquid transfer. 6) May maintain industrial grounds-keeping activities which entails removal and disposal of trash and surplus materials, and maintaining the Units and Water Resources yard areas free of obstruction and safety hazards as required. 7) Performs general industrial housekeeping and minor maintenance activities. This can include small machinery repair. Enters and retrieves data in station computer systems. 8) Requires off-site maintenance activities at Water Resources owned facility at 91st Ave. Water Treatment Plant and along the tertiary pipeline. This includes confined space entry work at pipeline manholes and pipeline facilities. 9) Performs other duties as assigned which may include but is not limited to: Sludge drying beds cleaning and repairing for unit cooling tower sludge: domestic service water leaks/repairs; condenser tube plugging/draining/close out inspection; onsite used oil processing; derocking activities on systems in the security owner controlled area where liquids turned to solids; pigeon abatement activities; chemical vessel and silo cleaning in support of engineering inspection and maintenance; temporary sump pump installation/removal when installed plant pumps are degraded; floor drain maintenance/cleaning; sump cleanouts; general housekeeping; cooling tower maintenance including nozzles and adjustments of weir plates; diesel generator surveillance; chemical delivery for operations; ice box stocking; VPP area inspections; FME inventory. 10) Attends and passes all required training and qualifications: clearance and tagging: fork lift, piping- fittings- auxiliaries (mech qual utilities uses), heat exchanger qualification, OJT/TPE, first responder hazardous waste/mixed waste, basic print reading, fall protection, material storage inspector, respirator/SCBA qualified, Foreign Material Exclusion, confined space, Hazardous chemical handling, SWMS qualified, surveillance testing qualified, VPP Area Inspections. For positions at Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Stations (PVNGS) all openings will require applicants to be a U.S. person. Plant/FieldRole: Any PVGS employees may be called upon for random Fitness for Duty (FFD) testing during scheduled working hours. Employees, if off-site, must report to FFD at Palo Verde as soon as reasonably practicable, but no more than 120 minutes after being notified. Employees who are onsite when notified will have no more than 60 minutes to report after being notified. |
