Are you a detail-oriented energy professional with a passion for optimizing power and natural gas transactions? We're seeking a Power Market Scheduler to support our dynamic Term Trading team in delivering reliable energy solutions.

You are responsible for:



  • Developing, processing, and verifying power and natural gas schedules in full compliance with WECC/NERC Tagging requirements.
  • Collaborating with Short-Term Traders and Senior Schedulers to execute marketing strategies that maximize customer value.
  • Managing scheduling services for Resource Management and supporting the Real-Time Trading Desk to ensure efficient energy delivery.
  • Ensuring all scheduling activities align with regulatory and reliability standards.

Minimum Requirements

Power Market Scheduler | Term Trading



  • B.S./BA Degree in business, economics, engineering, or related field
  • AND one (1) year experience in power operations, business operations, interconnect systems operations or related energy industry experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totalingfive (5) years required.
  • Ability to qualify on all scheduling activities within 1 year of hire, as well as M&T University or previously qualified with equivalent experience.
  • Developing knowledge of the principles of power operations acquired through prior work experience (to include internships) or formal education.
  • Ability to utilize a computer and associated data bases, software, hardware.


Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications



  • Basic Knowledge of functional characteristics of APS interconnected system, economy interchange, wheeling, and preference power arrangements preferred.
  • Knowledge of scheduling software in both power and natural gas.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.

Major Accountabilities

1) Develop daily energy transaction schedules and required E-Tagging in accordance with both WECC and NAESB standards.

2) Troubleshoot, research and negotiate with counterparties on all scheduling and tagging problems to ensure each marketing position is completed successfully.

3) Responsible for the accuracy of all trading and scheduling functions both physical and financial, for power and gas, between the company and interconnected utilities and marketers.

4) Serve as Resource Operations resource, optimizing the use of both point-to-point transmission and network transmission service to schedule power transactions while responding to posted transmission limitations and outages.

5) Serve as Resource Operations expert in all gas scheduling duties including nominations, trade processing and scheduling to include counterpart engagement and confirmations.

6) Manage daily natural gas storage (financial and physical)

7) Determine optimal sourcing of off-system sales by utilizing network resources and purchases.

8) Maximize contracted gas pipeline transport by managing hourly, daily, and term gas purchases through scheduling and portfolio management.

9) Ensure all transactions and communications are properly documented and archived in accordance with Company guidelines and Regulatory requirements.

10) Responsible for providing scheduling services that have been contracted by Resource Management.

11) Provide support to Real-Time Trading Desk as necessary to assist in the delivery of both power and natural gas for APS needs.

12) Support Resource Operations risk management through proactive analysis and reporting of transaction source and transmission pathing.

13) Collaborate with management to ensure all compliance process/procedures are effective and current with respect to ongoing changes to systems and technology.

14) Represent APS and Resource Management in a professional manner for routine, infrequent, and project-related work. Demonstrate the ability to interact with other business units, and other companies in a respectful and positive manner.

HybridRole:

Employees in hybrid roles will work both in their home offices and alongside their colleagues at an APS facility or other work location for meaningful in person engagement.

As of January 2025, hybrid-role employees will be asked to work about 40% of their time in person at an APS or other (non-home office) location.

*Employees in Hybrid roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
