Overview

The Compliance Coordinator is responsible for Compliance activities within the General Compliance Team and under the direction of the Chief Compliance Officer. Activities include but are not limited to: (1) Maintaining General Compliance program specific tasks and reporting, (2) Gather data and draft responses for external reporting requirements, (3) Investigate General Compliance cases, and (4) Assist Team Members as needed.

Responsibilities

Assist the VP, Chief Compliance Officer in administering the Hospital's efforts and activities related to areas of general compliance:

    Maintain the day-to-day operations of the General Compliance Programs (Conflict of Interest, Health Care Sanctions, Non-Monetary Compensation, Open Payments, Exit Questionnaires, Vendor Management, etc.). Coordinate with internal and external parties to ensure the day-to-day operations are maintained and completed in a timely manner. Troubleshoot issues/concerns with General Compliance Programs, including software to ensure good end user experience.
  • Assist in the development of Hospital policies to assure practices are consistent with applicable laws and regulations within areas of general compliance. Also assist in the development and provision of General Compliance Education as needed.
  • Stay current on developing general compliance issues to assure the Hospital addresses all risk areas. Maintain communication and provide regular reports to the VP, Chief Compliance Officer regarding general compliance activities and reported concerns.

Perform internal investigations resulting from reported compliance concerns:

  • Receive, investigate, and manage reported general compliance concerns. Conduct initial assessments to determine the validity of reported concerns and the level of risk to the Hospital. When appropriate, and as directed, coordinate efforts with Office of General Counsel in order to conduct investigations under the attorney-client privilege. When concerns are deemed to be valid, execute a full investigation, documenting all efforts, findings, and actions. Identify necessary corrective actions and coordinate with appropriate personnel to implement all such actions.
  • When deemed appropriate (based upon significance and scope of findings and upon the need for additional actions), execute a written Corrective Action Plan with involved parties that describes the findings of the investigation, an analysis of the issues, and the actions that are to be taken in order to correct what has occurred and to prevent recurrence. In the absence of a formal plan, the findings, analysis, and actions will be documented in the compliance incident tracking platform. Maintain a system of follow-up on unresolved concerns to assure corrective actions are completed.

Assist in activities relative to the Hospital's broader compliance efforts to assure adequate coverage of risk areas:

  • Work will include, but not be limited to:
    • Assist the Audit and Advisory Services department in planning and / or participating in audits in general compliance areas where risk is identified.
    • Assist other areas of Audit and Compliance when workload requires team assistance. Impacts to general compliance workload should be communicated to Chief Compliance Officer to ensure resources are allocated according to risk.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years' experience. Preferred experience in general compliance management in health care or similar setting. OR
  • Master's Degree Preferred and 1-2 years' experience. Preferred experience same as above.
  • Certified Healthcare Compliance (CHC) HCCA Preferred

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $29.54/hr, but your salaried offer will be determined based upon your education and experience.



Remote Work/Work from Home

This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children's Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
