Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Virtualization Operations Engineer to join our global IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of our virtualization infrastructure. You will work closely with senior engineers to ensure the stability, performance, and scalability of our virtual environments. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge virtualization technologies and to develop your skills in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

A successful candidate will be able to install, configure, deploy, and operate a enterprise level VMware environment. A candidate must have experience with VMware products such as vCenter, vSphere and have operated them in a production environment for a medium to large business. Also this person must have experience setting up and maintaining enterprise class server hardware from one of the following vendors (Dell, HP, Lenovo, or SuperMicro). They will need to be able to troubleshoot hardware component failures and do normal server maintenance in the environment. Lastly some sort of scripting experience is needed to automate repetitive tasks when needed.

As an member of the virtualization infrastructure team, you will be involved in various aspects of our virtualization projects, from initial planning and deployment to ongoing management and optimization. You will have the chance to work on a diverse range of tasks, including configuring virtual machines, managing storage resources, and troubleshooting network issues. Additionally, you will participate in capacity planning and performance tuning activities to ensure our virtual infrastructure meets the needs of our growing organization.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in the deployment, configuration, and management of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, and other related platforms.
  • Monitor and maintain virtual infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtual machines, storage, and networking.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support various IT projects and initiatives.
  • Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning activities.
  • Document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in virtualization technologies.
  • Deploy VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-V configurations
  • Automating complex operational tasks and reports
  • Conduct routine audits of virtual environments to ensure compliance with security policies and standards.
  • Proven ability to engage collaboratively with people in diverse teams and geographical locations
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines
  • Troubleshooting issues and providing root cause analysis
  • Server provisioning, lifecycle, and capacity management skills required
  • Hardware setup, configuration and upgrade
