Position Overview:
The Supplier Quality Professional position represents the Supplier Quality and Safety Development (SQD) function in the Vestas North America Region. This position partners with our suppliers and Vestas Procurement, HSE, and Operations teams to analyze and manage risks related to quality and safety. Key responsibilities include analyzing supplier risk, monitor supplier performance, and development of improvement plans.
This role engages with a diverse range of suppliers including transportation, maintenance and construction labor contractors, and warehousing.
The SQD function and its role in managing supplier quality and safety is critical in maintaining Vestas' position as the top wind turbine OEM in North America.
Key Responsibilities:
New Supplier Evaluation and Onboarding:
- Assess and qualify new suppliers based on safety requirements, quality management systems, and industry standards.
- Develop and maintain a robust supplier approval process, ensuring alignment with company standards and industry regulations, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 management systems.
- Work closely with internal teams, including procurement, HSE and operations to align supplier capabilities with company goals.
Supplier Performance Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments to evaluate compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with suppliers to address quality issues, implement corrective actions, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Monitor and evaluate performance metrics of a diverse supplier network.
- Develop and maintain a risk matrix to identify current levels of risk.
- Prepare detailed reports on supplier performance, safety metrics, and quality issues for management review.
- Ensure suppliers meet all relevant health, safety and environmental requirements.
Non-Conformance and Incident Management:
- Manage root cause analyses for non-conformances and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure corrective actions are maintained sustainably.
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:
- Manage and conduct supplier development projects.
- Regularly meet with supplier to identify new opportunities for continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years' experience working with quality or HSE disciplines.
- Experience with supplier management.
- General understanding of, and experience with management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Experience with supplier audits and performance evaluation.
- Familiarity with health and safety standards, such as OSHA or equivalent regional and provincial regulations.
- Conduct/lead incident learnings/investigations, identify effective and sustainable corrective/preventive actions.
Essential Functions:
- Proficient analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Collaborate with domestic and international internal/external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Vestas safety standards and procedures
- Collaborate with multiple levels of the Vestas organization including front line workforce, managers, directors, and support departments.
- Collaborate and engage with executive leadership.
- Advanced technical and presentation writing abilities.
- Ability to work flexible hours in a remote environment with limited supervision.
- Ability to frequently travel within regional footprint (US and Canada), up to 50% travel.
- Ability to travel to countries outside North America.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and basic skills in SAP.
