UNCSA follows the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) guidelines for faculty credentialing. The successful candidate will be required to submit a curriculum vitae, official transcripts of earned degrees, and/or substantiating documentation of experiential qualifications as a condition of employment.

Position Summary
The School of Drama seeks a dynamic and experienced voice, accent, and speech instructor to join our renowned faculty. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching, have a strong foundation in somatic approaches, and be knowledgeable and highly skilled in teaching and coaching Accents.
Description of Responsibilities and Duties
Responsibilities:

  • Teach various courses, including first-year speech, third-year accents, fourth-year voice, and high school conservatory voice.
  • Provide coaching support for productions.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff on curriculum development and other initiatives.
  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Participate in faculty governance, service, and creative research.

Required Qualifications
Qualifications:


  • MFA or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience.
  • Expertise in voice, speech, and accents.
  • Strong foundation in somatic approaches to speech, accents, and voice.
  • Knowledge of major vocal pedagogies such as Linklater, Fitzmaurice, Colaianni Speech, Knight-Thompson, Roy Hart, Rodenburg, Berry, or degree from Central School, etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations.
  • A commitment to student success.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Directing experience
  • Experience in a conservatory setting.
  • Knowledge of Intimacy or best practices

Tenure Information UNCSA utilizes a multi-year contract system in lieu of tenure.
