As an emerging and licensed professional, an Architect collaborates with the project team to develop innovative solutions as well as coordinate the design through all documentation phases of a project. It is expected that the Architect will receive instruction on specific assignment objectives and independently propose solutions for these objectives. Job duties performed under general supervision will include: Creates graphics and renderings. Develops planning and design concepts. Prepares and coordinates architectural drawings, renderings, specifications and design assignments under general supervision to meet project requirements. Produces accurate documents that align with SmithGroup standards for project assignments. Supports more senior planners and architects on large projects. Creates and develops details of the internal and external features of a building. Researches more complex details using knowledge of basic drawing details. Consults with manufacturers; researches and proposes materials and products. Assists in construction administration including responding to RFI's, preparing sketches and addenda, visiting construction sites to gather information and/or prepare punch lists, and reviewing and processing submittals. Applies knowledge of building codes, zoning ordinances and other external issues to building design concepts. Manages aspects of a project and proactively provides status reports to project leadership. Determines level of effort required for a given assignment and provides input on scheduling. Highly skilled at working in Revit and is an Autodesk Certified Professional in Revit for Architectural Design. Experience in working on US ACE VA Facility experiences preferred. Parametric design experience with Rhino and Grasshopper script writing and Rhino. Inside plug in for Revit to develop organic building envelope panelization and rationalization methods to achieve organic, non linear geometry, facade designs. Experience with BIM 360 cloud based document and construction management services. Regional travel to client worksites may be required, less than 10% annually. Telecommuting will be permitted, 1-2 days per week.

Minimum requirements: Master of Architecture degree (foreign equivalent degrees accepted) in architecture or any closely related architecture or design field of study and 2 years of experience in any related occupation performing architectural assignments. A Michigan Architectural license is also required.
