YMCA International Services is a unique branch of the Y of Greater Houston and seeks to meet the needs of Houston's significant refugee and immigrant communities. We provide comprehensive programs that focus on building human assets and fostering self-sufficiency. The Preferred Communities (PC) program promotes self-sufficiency and successful integration of medically vulnerable groups through effective healthcare system navigation. The PC Quality Assurance (QA) Auditor plays a crucial role in ensuring the PC program is effective, efficient, and compliant with the Office of Refugee Resettlement's (ORR) guidelines and regulations. The program's physical address is 7850 Howell Sugarland Rd, Houston, TX 77083. Duties /Responsibilities Quality Assurance Auditor's primary responsibilities include:
- Compliance and Regulatory Oversight
- Ensure the program adheres to ORR's programmatic guidelines.
- Verify that the program operates according to established policies and procedures that are up-to-date and reflect best practices in refugee resettlement medical case management.
- Ensure the program complies with the standards outlined in the contract between the YMCA and the funder.
- Case File Audits
- Regularly review case files to ensure they are complete, accurate, and contain all necessary documentation.
- Check that services are provided and documented in a timely manner, according to program standards.
- Assess the quality of case notes and other documentation to ensure they are clear, unbiased, and reflect the services provided.
- Service Delivery Monitoring
- Monitor whether refugees have timely access to necessary medical services, such as primary care, specialty care, and mental health care.
- Ensure that services are delivered in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner according to the unique needs of the refugee population.
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Collect and analyze program performance data, including key indicators like access to care, health outcomes, and client satisfaction.
- Prepare monthly reports on audit findings for the Medical Services Director to review.
- Quality Improvement
- Identify areas where the program can improve its services and processes based on data analysis and audit findings.
- Work with the community health workers to develop and implement corrective action plans to address identified issues.
- Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions to ensure they achieve desired results.
- Training & Technical Assistance
- Provide training to community health workers on quality assurance procedures, documentation requirements, and best practices in medical case management for refugees.
- Offer technical assistance to community health workers to help them improve their skills and knowledge.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Work collaboratively with program staff and management to ensure the program meets its goals and objectives.
- Communicate audit findings and recommendations clearly and effectively to relevant staff.
- Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
- Meets timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance. Examples include but are not limited to UKG for review and approval of timesheets.
- Other duties as assigned, including airport pickup and food distribution rotation.
Requirements
- Previous experience and knowledge of refugee health Issues and refugee case management are strongly preferred.
- Culturally sensitive and aware of the diverse backgrounds of refugees served by the program.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a high-paced environment
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, automobile liability insurance, and a vehicle.
- Highly motivated and independent.
- Schedule flexibility: must be able and willing to work on Saturdays, early mornings, or evenings if needed.
- CQI certification preferred
- 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Fluency (spoken, written, and reading) in one of the current refugee languages is preferred
- Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams as well as phone apps such as Google Voice, WhatsApp, Adobe Fill & Sign, etc.
