Overview: The Chief Nursing Officer participates as a member of the senior leadership team in influencing and establishing the Nursing organizational plans that support the implementation of strategic initiatives and operational goals and objectives. He/she develops and implements hospital wide plans to improve nursing care, treatment and services.

The CNO assumes an active leadership role with the hospitals governing body, senior leadership, medical staff, management, and other clinical leaders in the decision-making structure and process. He/she works collaboratively with the medical staff to develop and maintain effective relationships.

The CNO will participate in Ministry performance improvement initiatives and align local initiatives with the Ministry Nursing Strategic Plan. He/she will develop and implement ongoing programs to measure, analyze, and improve the quality of nursing care, treatment and services. The CNO directs the implementation of nursing policies and procedures, nursing standards, and a nurse staffing plan.

The CNO will perform all duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in State of employment
  • 5 years of experience in a Nursing Leadership role.
  • Required Education:

    Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. Must be actively pursuing applicable Master's degree with completion of degree within 3 years.

  • Preferred Education: Masters Degree in Nursing, Health Administration or related field.

  • Certifications: Nurse Executive Certification and/or FACHE
