Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The primary purpose of the Physical Plant Physical Security Access/ Lock Shop in the Physical Plant Department is to maintain and repair the main campus and remote facility locking systems. Locking systems include both mechanical and electronic access equipment. Repairs include installing locks, door closures, mullions, exit devices, door pivots, rekeys, setting up cores, lock repair and duplication of keys. Responsible for keeping accurate keying records and maintaining the integrity of the university key tracking database. Requires access control and security cross training, as both trades are included under the Physical Security Shop. |

Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
The primary purpose of the Physical Plant Physical Assistant Supervisor
PSA Lockshop is to provide the day to day supervision of the operations of the
PSA/Lock Shop.
Responsibilities include:
Locksmith:
- Allocate Work assignments and provide training to staff.
- Primary custodian of Keystone software database.
- Management and training of campus Departmental Key Coordinators.
- Management of Campus Key Audits.
- Campus-wide building re-keys and key requests.
Physical Security Access:
- Supervision of PSA Shop in the absence of PSA Supervisor.
- Liaison for all Capital and Informal Project installations that include access control, security cameras, security closets, door/lock hardware, keys, key cores, ADA auto-operators or other assets that are part of campus physical security meet all campus standards and are functioning properly when installation is complete.
- Assist Supervisor with the development and maintenance of Physical Security standards to include access control, security cameras, security closets, door and lock hardware; keys to include the UNCW Key Policy.
- Ensure that the access control and camera preventative maintenance programs are maintained and assist in the development and maintenance of a similar program for campus doors and hardware.
- Assist supervisor with installation programming responsibilities for new access control and security camera assets in Lenel Security and Genetec Video Management software maintaining all standards and database integrity.
*This position has been designated as mandatory personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the university may be operating on an alternate schedule. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. |
Preferred education, professional skills and experience |
- Expertise in the repair and installation of locks, related hardware, and design and layout of small locking systems or minor additions or modifications to existing larger locking systems.
- Experience with store front frame and door repair.
- The ability to lead a team, prioritize, organize, and schedule work based on safety and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of Lenel OnGuard Security Software and Genetec Video Management Software.
- Knowledge of Keystone Web Key Tracking Software.
