The Department of Oral and Craniofacial Sciences at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Dentistry is seeking a part time Research Assistant or Research Aide.

Job Description

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage mouse colony (setting up breeding pairs, weaning, and sexing pups, weighing mice, microchipping, retiring of mouse colonies, etc.).
  • Perform genotyping for various mouse lines
  • Write technical reports and maintain detailed laboratory notebook
  • Assist with tissue collection, processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, collecting, and analyzing the data
  • Other general lab duties could be assigned.

For success in this position a demonstrated ability to multitask, high attention to detail with great communication skills is needed.

Part-time, .20% FTE (average of 8 hours per week), non-benefit-eligible, unranked academic position. Daily work schedule is flexible and negotiable.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree required to qualify as a Research Assistant

Students currently enrolled in undergraduate biology/chemistry majors, or related field, may qualify as a Research Aide

Preferred Qualifications

Background in Biological Science, Biochemistry, Molecular, Biology or related fields

Preference with previous handling of mice

Anticipated Hiring Range

$15.00 to $20.00per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
