DESCRIPTION

Under direction, performs advanced/lead-level Sterile Processing Technician duties. In addition to the full range of Sterile Processing Technician (SPD Tech) duties, serve UCSDH as subject matter expert (SME), providing support to all SPD Techs within Perioperative Services. Responsible for departmental rounding; performs routine review and assessment of SPD competency and efficiency. Ensures regulatory guidelines are followed and that records and documentations are completed in a thorough and timely fashion. Responsible for trouble-shooting SPD equipment or escalating for repair. Provides shift reports and information during staff huddles, addressing immediate concerns from the physicians and staff. Functions as a preceptor, mentor and resource/on boarder to new staff. Performs other related duties and assists supervisors as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Four (4) years of experience performing SPD duties in an acute care facility
  • Completion of SPD course.
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART w/in 6 months of hire date.
  • Sterile Processing Tech Certification (CRCST, CBSPD)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • CIS, CER, or CHL Certification from HSPA
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $74,834 - $93,083 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $35.84 - $44.58

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
