Position Summary

Provide academic and registration advisement for significant cohort of students in the Undergraduate Film and Television Program (UGFTV) department. Help guide students to their academic goals, and develop meaningful educational plans. Advise these students regarding course registration, academic policy, academic standing, study abroad, permission to register off campus, leaves of absence, unsanctioned leave status and readmission. Review, troubleshoot and approve degree progress report exceptions for graduation candidates. Provide referral to relevant campus resources. Utilize and maintain departmental advising records. Attend departmental events and assist when needed.


Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field.

Required Experience:
3+ years of relevant experience in an academic environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience:
3+ years of experience working with undergraduate students in a college setting in one or more of the following areas: Academic Advising, Transfer Advising, Counseling, Student Affairs, or Student Success. Experience using Peoplesoft.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to collaborate and mediate with a diverse audience. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills. Computer skills, and experience in working with databases.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
High volume of student and faculty interaction. Ability to work independently and as an integral member of a team.


Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $77,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
