JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing (CON) seeks an experienced and dynamic Grants and Contracts Administrator - Senior Supervisor for the Center for Nursing Research (CNR). This person will join a busy and vibrant departmental team during exciting change, growth, and innovation. This leadership is key to the team's goal of becoming a model of "best-in-class." The successful candidate is expected to actively participate in change processes and be dedicated to continual learning and improvement. The CON's CNR covers the full scope of activities related to the lifecycle of sponsored program administration, including identification of funding sources, proposal submission, contract negotiation, and sub-award issuance. Post-award administration (both financial and non-financial) related to funding provided in the form of gifts, grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts from external/internal funding sources (e.g., federal agencies, state agencies, private companies, or foundations) that provide support for research, curriculum development, outreach, and/or service work. The Director will report to the Associate Dean for Research and Innovations (ADR) and represent the Associate Dean and CNR in absentia or as directed. This person will supervise three/ four direct reports and be responsible for training constituents and staff. The Director will document CNR policies and procedures, co-chair (with the ADR) research faculty meetings, work with staff to set up seminars and publish a monthly newsletter. In addition, this person will work closely with and consult with faculty and educators to ensure compliance with sponsor and university policies and procedures. There will be frequent contact with the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), sponsors' university officials, and peers within and outside the university, facilitating processes, troubleshooting, and problem-solving. The Director will also provide support in the pre-award area, including, but not limited to, setting up mock reviews, preparing and reviewing proposals for University signature and submission to various federal, state, and local agencies, private companies, and foundations. This activity involves working closely with faculty to create proposal subsections, including budgets and non-technical components of applications. The successful candidate will also review, interpret, and provide guidance to faculty and staff based on sponsor solicitations, regulations, and law. Qualifying for and maintenance of delegated signature authority is vital to this position. This position is responsible for the full scope of activities related to the post-award cycle of sponsored programs administration for the College of Nursing, as noted above, along with the CNR activities. This job will be filled as a Grants and Contracts Administrator - Senior Supervisor. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher plus six years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A master's degree is highly preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Experience, SIMBA, SIMS, Grants.gov, Cayuse, and ACOR Certification and Education Series (ACES) is also preferred. Strong written, electronic, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, and a team-oriented approach to leadership and commitment to customer service are required. This position will perform work activities in a large volume, fast-paced, complex, detailed, and multifaceted environment requiring multi-tasking expertise, managing conflicting priorities often on a deadline, timely work production, and solving complex problems. Familiarity with a broad spectrum of granting agencies, foundations, and industry sponsors is helpful. The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities is essential. The successful candidate will have outstanding organizational skills, oral and written communication skills; the ability to work collaboratively, effectively, and professionally with leadership, faculty, staff, and external partners; a demonstrated ability to make independent administrative decisions; a demonstrated ability to exercise discretion in confidential matters; and a proactive approach to work that includes continually seeking ways to improve administrative procedures.
