Description

The School of Health Professions (SHP) at Stony Brook University invites applicants to apply for the position of Director of Clinical Education in the Department of Physician Assistant Education. This is a non-tenure track, 12-month faculty appointment at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. The Physician Assistant Program is delivered at both the Stony Brook University Health Sciences Center and Stony Brook University Southampton locations.

The Director of Clinical Education will oversee and administer the clinical education program for the Department across the two campuses. The candidate hired for this position will also have responsibilities in teaching in areas of expertise within the PA curriculum, engaging in collaborative interdisciplinary scholarship, and engaging in service activities.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. If invited for an interview, candidates will need to conduct a professional presentation.

The School of Health Professions' Department of Physician Assistant Education offers a Master of Science degree, and the program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Applicant must have a terminal degree (or foreign equivalent) in Physician Assistant Education from an accredited institution. Applicant must have a Master's degree(foreign equivalent or higher). Applicant must be National Commission Certification for Physician Assistant Certified. Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice as a Physician Assistant in New York State. Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a practicing Physician Assistant.

Preferred Qualifications:
Record of teaching. Served as a clinical preceptor for PA students. Experience with PA education as a Director of Clinical Education in an academic PA program. Experience with ARC-PA standards and accreditation. Earned academic doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution (e.g. PhD, EdD, or DSc, or foreign equivalent); ABD is acceptable.
