Position Summary Arts & Science is seeking a dynamic Assistant Director of Advising, Service and Leadership to join the Liberal Studies advising team. Advise students in Liberal Studies on academic programs, providing practical information related to the curriculum and degree progress, as well as administrative aspects of course selection and registration. This includes advisement for students in Liberal Studies, where students transition onto 8 undergraduate schools at NYU (representing 90 majors) as well as internal transfer options. Help students make informed decisions about their academic and professional goals. Interpret institutional policies and procedures for Liberal Studies, NYU, and relevant programming areas; and recommend or approve special exceptions when necessary. Facilitate access to University resources and support services through appropriate referrals. Each Assistant Director in Liberal Studies has a portfolio that consists of five components: (1) assigned caseloads for advisement from the general student population based on alphabetical distribution, (2) additional advisement and support for a special student population, (3) assigned programming areas, which will be developed on behalf of students and colleagues, (4) service on relevant internal or external committees, and (5) liaison responsibilities with appointed schools or programs at NYU. The Assistant Director of Advising, Service and Leadership manages leadership programs and initiatives, civic engagement and service activities, and reinforces the natural intersection between them (e.g. Days of service, Leadership Fellows, etc). In particular, the position coordinates alternative break programs and social impact grants, both of which support applied learning experiences for students and critical engagements to solve community issues. The Assistant Director promotes reflection about social justice, and models the idea that contributing back to communities is an important outcome of education and global citizenship. The position liaises with relevant departments at NYU, such as the Center for Student Life, Civic Engagement Office, NYU Leadership Initiative, and NYU Student Affairs. Qualifications Required Education: Additional Information In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $74,520.00 to USD $82,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
