Food Safety Quality Technician

Job Summary

Will assist in all customer, company, and government audits. Must maintain documentation for accuracy for audit records. Expected to work directly with other supervisors and the leadership team. Responsible for in-process monitoring of production processes to assure conformance to company quality standards, customer standards, and regulatory compliance standards. Supports compliance with all company policies, rules, and the handbook.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Maintain accuracy with all production, plant, and compliance documentation.
  • Performs analytical testing and records results.
  • Quality checks to include metal detector checks, trailer checks, and plant walk through.
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of the lab area.
  • Notifies Supervisors in the event of issues with the analytical results.
  • Effectively interacts with Production to maintain product supply quality and food safety standards.
  • Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits.
  • Communicates with employees and/or management to address employee suggestions or problems.
  • May be asked on occasion to perform other duties at a lower or higher level of proficiency or not related to this classification.
  • Required to know, implement, & delegate Food Safety Management System responsibilities as nec. .
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in Food Safety Certification such as: SQF, FSSC22000, and GFSI.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior laboratory experience preferred.
  • Work well with others in a team, management, and regulatory environment.
  • Highly organized; superior time management skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and oral.
  • Safety conscience; detail oriented; able to multi-task.
  • Good computer and math skills and basic chemistry knowledge.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
  • Frequently lifts up to 20 lbs.
  • Occasionally push, pull, move, or lift 50 lbs.
  • Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out in an office, lab, or plant environment.
