Description Level 3 Fiber SPLICING Technicians (TRAVEL) Responsibilities: Pulling, fabricating, testing, and splicing OSP/ISP fiber (48 strand, 144 strand, 3456 strand, and 6912 strand). Additional Requirements: Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time. Job Summary: The Fiber Technician is responsible for all aspects of Fiber including but not limited to installing, terminating, testing and splicing. Cabling & Termination Skills: Must possess the ability to: Install LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA and MPO/MTP connectors, for both multi-mode & single-mode fiber Terminate simplex & duplex jumper cord Terminate & breakout outside plant (loose tube) fiber (e.g. Corning/Commscope) Terminate & breakout outside plant (loose tube) fiber (e.g. 3DNX) Terminate indoor tight buffered multimode and single-mode fiber Install fan out kits Install buffer tube fan out kits Calculate end to end loss budgets in accordance with TIA/EIA standards for multimode & single-mode fiber Basic copper termination skills Other duties as assigned Skills Cable, CAT 5/6, telecommunications, punch down, terminations, pull, cable trays., Wiring Top Skills Details Cable, CAT 5/6, telecommunications, punch down, terminations, pull, cable trays. Additional Skills & Qualifications Testing: Must have the ability to: Test using an OTDR, Fluke DTX 1800 Troubleshoot using an OTDR to identify and correct problems end to end, and Network wide Provide all documentation required Label in accordance with IES Standards Splicing: Must have the ability to: Perform mechanical splicing with all types of fiber cable Perform fusion splicing with all types of fiber cable Perform building entrance splices, maintenance space, and direct buried splices Experience Level* Entry Level Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $40.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
