Attention job seeker, the IRS would like a word with you, and that is a good thing!

Attend our Direct Hire Hiring Event in Layton, UT, on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 14 and 15, to be considered for our entry-level Clerk and Tax Examiner seasonal employment opportunities at our Ogden Service Center.

During this event, we will be making job offers on the spot. Selected candidates will be able to complete several pre-employment steps at the event itself! The entire process can take about two to three hours to complete, so please plan accordingly.

Note: It will be to your advantage to complete the application process before you attend the event. This process includes the submission of your resume and any supporting documentation, along with completing the online questionnaire. This application procedure will be apparent to you when you access the official announcement for the event by visiting our IRS Careers website event page (see How to Apply section below) and selecting the January 14 and 15 Layton event. Carefully follow the instructions to apply before the date of the event.

Clerks and Tax Examiners perform a variety of administrative tasks and duties associated with tax administration. These duties will vary based on the position and may include identifying and reviewing forms, preparing inventory reports, reviewing filed material, transcribing taxpayer documents, responding to taxpayer correspondence, resolving account issues, and reviewing tax returns for errors and missing information.

We will be offering full-time, seasonal positions on swing shifts. Seasonal employment typically lasts six to eight months or longer and provides the stability of returning to your position each year.

These positions do not require you to have any prior tax experience, as we provide comprehensive training for new hires. However, to qualify for either of these positions, you must have one year of general experience or two years of post-secondary education, and for advanced entry-level roles, one year of specialized clerical experience or four years of post-secondary education.
