Summary
Leverage your skills to make a difference in the safety and security of over a thousand faculty, staff and students on a 9-acre university campus and affiliated off-campus locations. Stand out as leader responsible for one of the most visible services on campus and significant behind the scenes administration. University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis is looking for a dedicated, accomplished professional to lead our public safety and access teams. You will report to the vice president of operations and manage a dedicated team of public safety officers, parking and emergency management staff.

You will get to:
  • Be the face of community-focused, public safety at UHSP for students (undergraduate, graduate, and professional students), their families, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests. Interacts with members of the University leadership team on a regular basis.
  • Manage and direct all aspects of public safety on campus including staffing, training, establishment of procedures, budget, and record keeping.
  • Serve as the University's Clery compliance professional responsible for crime logs, annual reporting, and training across campus. Coordinate with other offices for programming regarding sexual assaults, and other safety topics. Report on emergency management public safety related issues such as post-incident reports, tests of emergency communications, and fire safety programs
  • Manage University parking and access as well as emergency management functions.


Qualifications
To be successful you will need:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in criminal justice or security management.
  • 7+ years of experience in security, public safety, military or law enforcement.
  • 5+ years of experience in a management capacity including personnel management, scheduling, budgeting, and department planning, preferably in higher education
  • Thorough knowledge of criminal justice, law enforcement protocols/procedures, preferably including those in higher education environment.
  • Flexible, collaborative, team-oriented, with proven conflict management skills.
  • Knowledge of laws and currently accepted principles and practices relevant to public safety operations in an educational or public facility, preferably including OSHA, NIMS, NFPA and FEMA.
  • Completion of NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 and ICS 300 and 400, preferred.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Minimum of uniform exempt armed St. Louis Metropolitan Security License or state approved Corporate Security License.
