Fraser Alpine Clinic Providers Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, collects comprehensive demographic and insurance information required for facilitating timely and accurate billing of patients presenting for services through the Emergency Department, Pediatric services, Adult Urgent Care Clinic or as a Direct admission from another facility. Verifies and identifies patient payer sources. This position will require employee to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and demanding environment and cover all inpatient units in the hospital.

Essential Functions:
  • Verifies and identifies patients. Updates demographic information into the electronic health record. This may require a search of patient personal belongings while in the hospital. (15%)
  • Works with the Insurance Verification team to confirm benefits and provide notification of admission to patient's payer sources. (10%)
  • Works closely with Case Management, Law Enforcement and Coroner offices to identify patients who have not been previously identified and contact patient family as needed (15%)
  • Insures daily completion of required compliance documentation (Important Message from Medicare (IMM), Consent for treatment, Notice of Privacy Practices (NOPP) and Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ). (15%)
  • Daily review and monitoring of assigned work queue volumes to capture missing registration items for patients admitted to the organization (15%)
  • Daily review of pass-on documents to capture patients admitted through the Emergency Department (ED) that were not able to complete the registration process. (15%)
  • Thorough review of patient payer benefits to establish and collect required out of pocket responsibilities upon admission (15%)

Education:
  • No High School Diploma and/or No GED Required

Work Experience:
  • 1-3 years relevant experience in a customer service business Required

Licenses:

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to type 25 wpm.
    • Ability to prioritize and perform a multitude of duties.
    • Ability to relate to a diverse patient population.
    • Excellent telephone and customer service skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Familiarity with Epic
