The School of Public Health Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Post Doctoral Fellow.

About the Opportunity

Contribute to a robust research agenda in the Rudisill research laboratory that focuses on injury epidemiology including transportation safety, substance use, and injury policy. This postdoctoral scholar will work closely under the supervision of Dr. Toni Marie Rudisill within ongoing projects spanning a randomized control trial investigating the effects of cannabidiol on driving performance and behavior along with mixed methods projects evaluating clinic-based interventions. There are opportunities for conducting independent research as well as for collaborating on multi-scholar research initiatives/projects.

What You'll Do



  • Lead ongoing extramurally funded and pilot projects, including protocol design, project administration, project management, data collection, and analysis
  • Develop and disseminate scholarly research as peer-reviewed abstracts and manuscripts
  • Participate as an active collaborator in grant writing for future projects and initiatives
  • Present at select national scientific meetings
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students within the research lab
  • Assist in teaching classes


Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in epidemiology, public health, or a closely related field
  • A minimum of 0-1 year of experience in the following:

    • Conducted independent statistical analyses of observational or experimental health-related data
    • Designed, conducted, and disseminated an independent research project in the injury epidemiology field


  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • The selected candidate must be able to meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and to continue working legally for the proposed term of the appointment.
  • Excellent project management and time management skills
  • Strong data analytic skills, including proficient knowledge and use of SAS statistical software
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Scientific writing skills demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications
  • Strong interpersonal and mentoring skills


Requirements

  • Valid driver's license. The candidate may have to transport study participants from the local area home after participation in research projects.
