BH Link Direct Care Manager (Full time)

East Providence

The BH Link is searching for enthusiastic manager, looking to make a positive impact in the Rhode Island community! The BH Link is a 24/7 triage facility providing assessment and referral services for adults experiencing mental health and/or substance use crises.

The role of the Direct Care Manager will be to support clients during their crisis visits, serve as leadership for non-credentialed direct care staff, and collaborate with other members of the leadership team aid in program development processes.

Roles and Responsibilities:



  • Model effective direct care services through warmth and positive engagement with clients throughout their visits. Specific direct care tasks include:


  • Practicing effective de-escalation techniques, as needed.
  • Assisting clients in filling out paperwork, as needed.
  • Helping to ensure the comfort and safety of clients throughout their visit to BH Link.
  • Monitoring facility cameras and help to ensure environmental safety on and around the grounds of the program.
  • Guiding clients through safety checks during their entry into the BH Link facility.
  • Assisting in facilitating transportation to and from the BH Link facility, as needed.
  • Assuring that treatment bays are presentable and safe prior to the transition of a client from the waiting room to the treatment bay.
  • Maintaining documentation and logs, as appropriate.
  • Engaging with insurance companies on behalf of clients, as needed.
  • Consistently assessing where support is needed in the program.



  • Designing and implementing onboarding process, training curriculum, and ongoing in-services.



  • Providing individual and group supervision to direct reports, on both a regularly scheduled and ad hoc basis.



  • Drafting and communicating relevant policies/procedures and program updates.



  • Coordinating 24/7 staffing coverage for direct care staff in collaboration with other program leadership.



  • Participating in recruitment processes and supporting employee retention.



  • Organizing and developing resources to support program practices.



  • Regularly navigating electronic health records and running necessary reports with agencys EHR.



  • Provide additional clinical and administrative support as needed.



Desired Skills:


  • ability to engage with internal and external partners, leaders, and stakeholders regarding program design and systems improvement.
  • willingness to work alongside their team members in a direct care capacity; i.e., willing to engage regularly and directly with clients and their supports and/or referral sources.
  • capacity to be highly organized, efficient, and responsive in executing key deliverables, and able to work simultaneously on multiple projects.
  • experience with mentorship, coaching, or supervising; and with creating workflows, training plans, and/or policies and procedures.
  • Personable and compassionate in approach.
  • Able to build rapport with clients within a short period of time.
  • Works well in a team setting and communicates effectively with other professionals.
  • Proactive and engaged when working with clients and co-workers.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in fast-paced environments.

Experience and Education:


  • BA required; or 5+ years of highly relevant work experience
  • Minimum one year experience in behavioral health or non-profit leadership required
  • Minimum one year experience in an administrative or data-focused position highly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills a must, with demonstrated ability to remain mission-aligned and highly focused amidst multiple competing priorities and demands
