The Financial Analyst/Planner Associate is responsible for executing, recording, reconciling, summarizing, and reporting financial transactions. This position is instrumental in tracking the revenues and expenses for faculty practice initiatives, clinical and other financial operations and will play an integral role in the accounting and budgeting process in coordination with the Director of Finance as well as the Associate Dean for Faculty Practice.

Duties & Responsibilities:


Financial Management and Accounting
  • Maintains financial records and prepares, monitors, and evaluates monthly finance reports.
  • Provides detailed revenue and expense summaries for all faculty practice initiatives and other clients.
  • Creates financial proforma analysis for new practice initiatives and strategic partnerships within the College.
  • Prepares comprehensive reports and analyses of accounts for assigned units.
  • Provides direction for development and implementation of the College's annual operating budget through completion of accurate projections.
  • Assists in the development of new financial policies, procedures, systems or work practices in coordination with Director of Finance.
  • Collaborates with College leadership to create detailed reporting metrics, targets and benchmarks.

Business Operations and Grant Management
  • Participates in the fiscal management of business operations through:
  • Contract management
  • Reconciliation reporting
  • Financial year-end close out
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable management
  • Payroll reconciliation
  • Property accounting
  • Develops systems and workflows for purchasing, payables, and reconciliation.
  • Processes and approves financial transactions.
  • Provides post-award financial analysis.
  • Trains faculty and staff on grant management and reporting best practices.
  • Monitors and reconciles expenditures on grants and sponsored project to ensure compliance.

Customer Service and Collaboration
  • Serves as resource to faculty and staff for data interpretation and analysis
  • Responds to internal and external requests for information.
  • Interprets, reports, and presents results to administrative and academic policy makers.
  • Trains new faculty and staff on UI systems.
  • May serve as security and access liaison for assigned units.
  • Represents the College on various internal/external committees.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications Required:

1. Any one or combination totaling four (4) years (48 months) from the categories below:

A. college coursework comparable to that in a field related to financial analysis/planning such as accounting, business administration, economics, finance, statistics, or a closely related field
  • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
  • Associate Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months
  • 90-semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
  • Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
  • Master's Degree equals four (4) years (48 months)

B. work experience in developing financial or economic analyses, research designs, strategic plans, or data models.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year year of experience in finance or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage accounts.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, reporting, and technical ability.
  • Excellent independent judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, financial management, budgeting, and management best practices.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheets/databases and finance/accounting software systems, including: SAP/Business Objects, Banner, OLAP cube, Tableau and MS Office applications.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and run corresponding reports for use by directors and managers.
