Job Summary

The Physician Recruitment & Retention Manager oversees the physician recruitment team at UC Davis Health. This team manages recruitment across the School of Medicine, Affiliate Network, and the Community Physicians Group. The Physician Recruitment & Retention Manager develops and implements strategic recruitment programs, directs the full-cycle recruitment process, and supports UC Davis Health's mission of fostering a diverse, world-class workforce. This position serves as the key liaison with UC Davis Health leadership and external partners to ensure the successful recruitment of high-caliber, diverse physician candidates.

The role requires an advanced understanding of physician recruitment practices, workforce planning, and regulatory compliance within a healthcare or academic medical center setting. The Physician Recruitment & Retention Manager will mentor and support a team of physician recruiters, ensuring effective and compliant recruitment practices while fostering a collaborative work environment aligned with UC Davis Health's DEI objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of six years of experience in healthcare recruitment, of which at least two years of experience in physician recruitment in a supervisory or management role.
  • Advanced knowledge of sourcing strategies, recruitment advertising, applicant assessment, and full-cycle recruitment processes.
  • Proficiency in recruitment and HR information systems & Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple high-level recruitments simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of employment laws, affirmative action, and DEI best practices related to physician recruitment.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing recruitment teams, including coaching and professional development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and build consensus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Human Resources or Talent Acquisition (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR).
  • MBA, MHA, or other relevant master's degree.
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting to inform recruitment strategies and decision-making.
  • Experience working in strategic partnerships with senior leadership in an academic or healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated experience incorporating DEI practices into recruitment programs and training.
