General Purpose of Job: Under general direction, assist in the day-to-day support of Sparrow Health System's desktop environments, both physical and virtual. Provide information technology support to all SHS associates with related issues. Assist in the deployment and on-going maintenance of various PC operating systems. Lead on end client planning and configuration for Sparrow EMR deployments and for Sparrow Community Connect deployments. Provide general oversight for standard department processes such as ticket triage efforts, asset life cycle, and coordinating service provider programs. - Works to continually improve systems or applications through installations, upgrades, configuration changes, and error management
- Writes and maintains code, programs or scripts to improve systems
- Assists with ensuring systems are built and delivered in a timely fashion according to project timelines
- Participates in project teams for selection, implementation, and maintenance of information technology to support the strategic plans of the health system
- Collaborates with peers to ensure proactive support for applications and technical systems
- Escalates issues to vendors when appropriate
- Assists in system administration, backup, documentation, planning, support and troubleshooting of existing technologies
- Assists in the deployment and on-going maintenance of various PC operating systems. Provides support for video and audio technologies as well as related virtual meetings.
- Supports end client planning and configuration for Sparrow EMR and Sparrow Community Connect deployments.
- Performs important system testing and operational tasks that are typically defined in standard operating procedures or other documentation
- Provides customer and technical support as needed
- Provides general oversight and suggests improvements to standard department processes such as ticket triage efforts, asset life cycle, and coordinating service provider programs.
- Participates in periodic on-call rotation and go-live/variable evening hours for project related
- Researches and provides support for Audio Visual and Virtual meeting technologies.
- Coordinates small projects
- Provides individual technical support to executives, physicians and board members
- Coordinates, monitors and improves field/planned service activities
- Provides support and guidance to service personnel who perform on-site routine services including installation, maintenance, and repair
- Provides customer and technical support as needed
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
Job Requirements

Microsoft Certified Professional preferred |
Work Experience |
* Minimum of three years deploying and maintaining PC desktop/laptop computers. * Desktop operating systems: Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Embedded operating systems, virtual desktops (XenDesktop/VMware View) etc. * Must be familiar with network architecture and have hands-on experience with large, complex local area networks. * Must understand concepts of disk imaging technology. Model office concepts. * Life Cycle management * Extensive experience with current mobile device technology |
Education |
* Associate Degree in Business or related field OR High School diploma and Microsoft Certified Professional |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
* Broad experience with the Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. * Ability to work extended hours on short notice. * Ability to quickly learn new software and technologies. * Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job. * Self Maintainer certifications with PC manufacturers or Printer/MFP manufacturers. Currently Dell, Lenovo and Lexmark - preferred * Familiar with MS Active Directory and with print server technologies. - preferred * Comptia A+, Security +, Net+ preferred |
