Title: Public Health Fellow - OASIS Team & Accountability Group Support - WAG

$18.00 - $19.50 / Posted Thru: 1-27-25

Part Time 10 hrs./Wk. / Funded Thru: 12-19-25

Location: Remote/Virtual

Purpose: The Public Health Fellow will support the Office of Anti-Oppression Strategies and Internal Solutions (OASIS) to further root and advance equity while fostering MPHI's core values. This role involves supporting OASIS and directly supports the MPHI-White Accountability Group (WAG) and their respective subcommittee activities. The fellowship offers mentorship, practical experience, professional development, and coaching to prepare for a public health career. We aim to build a diverse and inclusive workforce through relationship-building and social justice actions. Ideal candidates are passionate about social justice and public health, seeking experience in an inclusive workplace.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Contribute to the planning, management, and execution of MPHI's AO goals, including but not limited to supporting WAG, affinity groups, and OASIS subcommittees with ongoing tasks.
  • Support the core team managing anti-oppression efforts. Tasks may include capturing meeting minutes, tracking action items, preparation of AO communication materials, presentations, organizing electronic project documents, correspondences, meeting facilitation and other information related to the initiative.
  • Conduct literature review and data analysis of anti-oppression, health equity, brave/psychological space evidence-based best practices.
  • Foster cross-MPHI Center and Public Health Fellow collaboration through operational partnerships and ongoing communications to support OASIS initiatives.
  • Draft and map workflow processes that capture OASIS and the respective affinity group model including role/responsibilities, sequential tasks, communication channels, decision-making processes, milestones and deadline, and resource allocation for review by OASIS leadership and affinity group leads.
  • Work in collaboration with the WAG Co-Chairs and WAG meetings and other activities.
  • Manage WAG SharePoint Site, Member List, and other critical lists.
  • Provide logistical support for virtual and onsite activities.
  • Create outlines and templates for e-newsletters.
  • Curate culturally responsive and inclusive outreach communications.
  • Assist in tracking relevant anti-oppression (AO) accountability and affinity group and subcommittee activities.
  • Provide administrative support for maintaining OASIS and specific anti-oppression information on SharePoint.


  • Maintain a positive, strong, credible professional and interpersonal relationship with all parties relevant to MPHI projects and always represent the values of the institute.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Current student in an undergraduate or graduate program, with a concentration in public health/healthcare, communications, sociology, social work, anthropology, business, or another related field preferred.

Experience: One to two years of demonstrated experience in administrative support, including but not limited to calendaring and scheduling, notetaking, action planning, and facilitating. Preferred: Knowledge of strategic planning, event planning, and/or experience working in/with diverse communities is strongly preferred.

  • Produce timely and accurate work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Sensitivity to the political climates and issues in varying environments
  • Teams and SharePoint experience is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, demonstrated through managing multiple projects.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Work primarily in home office setting. Must have ability to work at a computer and operate normal office equipment. Job may require moderate physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of <50# an involves viewing a computer screen 25% to 75% of the time. Requires a valid vehicle operator's license where needed to perform duties of the position.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: No assigned responsibilities.

IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: This position plays a supporting role which has the potential for significant impact in the timely and efficient operations of ongoing project and program activities.
