Minimal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of building maintenance related experience.


OR
  • Associate's degree in related field plus six (6) years of full-time, directly-related work experience.
OR

  • High School Diploma/GED and seven (7) years of full-time, directly-related work
  • Minimum Qualification can be substituted with an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Valid Driver's License required



Preferred qualifications:
Preference will be given to individuals who possess:

  • Prior experience in a multi-campus college or university
  • Prior experience in the operation of mechanical systems in buildings
  • Prior experience in custodial and/or grounds operations
  • Prior experience in utilities and energy reduction programs
  • Experience in project management of construction projects and building renovations
  • Experience in developing and maintaining preventive maintenance programs
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with legal compliance policies and procedures related to facilities
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Prior experience overseeing/supervising multiple trades within a facility services department
  • Additional certifications (i.e. Certified Facilities Manager (FFM), Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP), Educational Facilities Professional (EFP), Certified Energy Manager (CEM)



Work Hours
Normally scheduled Monday through Friday; however, may be required to work other shifts to include evenings and/or weekends. Schedule subject to change based upon department needs.


Compensation
The annual salary is $68,668-$72,788. A competitive benefit package is included.

Class Summary
This is the fifth level in the Facility Maintenance series. Incumbents provide direction and supervision to the maintenance and construction of physical facility which include custodial, grounds keeping, maintenance, re-modeling and construction, and coordinate maintenance and construction projects. Major duties and responsibilities include: supervising, training, and evaluating subordinate staff; overseeing the operations of the physical facilities in accordance with established energy conservation guidelines, coordinating hours of facilities, and safety procedures; coordinating construction projects, timelines and costs; tracking work orders; ordering materials and supplies; monitoring assigned budget; preparing and reviewing construction contracts.

Typical Essential Duties

  • Supervises maintenance, construction, and/or other staff in an assigned facility to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; coordinating staff training; and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures.
  • Oversees and/or performs maintenance and construction operations in assigned physical facilities in accordance with established energy conservation guidelines; work may involve coordinating facility schedules and ensuring that safety procedures are followed.
  • Coordinates all operations related to construction, remodeling, and facility maintenance projects; work may involve managing project budgets, scope, and schedules; reviewing project plans; coordinating with internal and external staff, departments, and agencies to facilitate project operations; and ensuring that operations are performed in accordance with laws, policies, procedures, and project plans.
  • Tracks and prioritizes work orders; work may also involve responding to emergency calls after work hours, and prioritizing maintenance needs, and scheduling staff, as needed.
  • Maintains equipment inventory; work may involve assessing maintenance needs based on project plans, and regularly ordering materials and supplies.
  • Monitors an assigned budget, to include monitoring expenditures, assessing project needs, preparing project cost estimates and purchase requisitions.
  • Prepares, maintains, and/or reviews construction contracts, maps, work orders, reports, records, and other documentation to ensure timely and accurate documentation, and compliance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

  • Positions in this class typically require: climbing, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Incumbents may be exposed to hazardous physical conditions, such as, mechanical parts, electrical currents, and vibrations; atmospheric conditions, such as fumes, odors, gases, and poor ventilation; hazardous materials, such as chemicals, blood, and other bodily fluids; extreme temperatures; inadequate lighting; work space-related movement restrictions; and intense noise; incumbents may also be expected to travel.
