Engineering Manager

Job Description:

Reports to the Director of Engineering. Responsible for the daily operation of the P&WC engineering team. Evaluate cust01ner drawings, models, and specifications to determine the cost and most efficient manufacturing processes, to manufacture high quality products. Work hands-on, interacting with shop floor personnel, engineering, design, and manufacturing groups to ensure lean plans are created and implemented. This includes providing technical leadership to improve safety, quality, and on-time delivery while reducing product cost and risk.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Manage the engineering team to lead and manage all process and programs from development to production as required to achieve goals
  • Manage the engineering team with regard to company standards, policies and guidelines
  • Identify customer requirements from blueprints or other customer supplied information and provide quotes as required
  • Communicate with customers to maintain a positive business relationship on a daily basis
  • Attend customer meetings (kick off, coordination review, and close out)
  • Provide guidance to assist project engineers and work with internal and external customers to identify and resolve manufacturing and quality problems related to methods, processes, tooling, equipment and process design
  • Assist with the development, preparation, and maintenance of process routings and operation instructions
  • Communicate with manufacturing and floor personnel effectively
  • Monitor and improve productivity, while ensuring all customer commitments are met in a timely, quality and cost-conscious manner
  • Attract and retain talent, build a strong engineering team, instill a technical culture, and promote a proactive approach to issue resolution ll
  • Other duties as required to support the needs of the business



Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or related field OR Associates degree in manufacturing engineering and working on Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or related field plus 7 years' experience in aerospace or industrial gas turbine manufacturing Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of conventional and nonconventional machining
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects
  • Sound analytical and problem solving skills
  • Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Must be able to use standard gauges (micrometers, height gauges, calipers etc.)
  • Ability to process and communicate information using Microsoft Office products Fluency in written and spoken English



Preferable Experience



  • Six Sigma Green Belt or similar training
  • Understanding of quality systems such as AS9100, ISO and NADCAP
  • CAD software (NX, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • Master's degree in Business Administration
