Carnegie Mellon University: School of Computer Science: HCII Location Pittsburgh, PA Open Date Nov 25, 2024 Deadline Jan 03, 2025 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time Description The Master of Educational Technology and Applied Learning Sciences (METALS) Role Mentor program's goals are to provide necessary role specific skills for METALS students to succeed in their capstone project and a supportive learning environment where students can share challenges and learn from both the mentor and each other. The Role Mentor Program Manager is responsible for leading the Role Mentor team, ensuring each team member is fulfilling the team's central goals, and iteratively improving the team's effectiveness in achieving these goals. In addition, this position will be also have the responsibilities of a Role Mentor, mentoring up to seven students in a particular role (Project Manager, Product Manager, Developer, Researcher, Designer) for the METALS capstone course. Job Responsibilities: * Meet with your role group at least twice a month for hour long sessions Wednesdays from 6-7 pm EST, starting January 2025 until mid-August 2025. Impart necessary skills, tools and techniques, or mindsets to mentees for them to succeed in the role both in the capstone project and beyond using appropriate pedagogy such as lecturing, workshops or peer reviews/critiques. * Lead monthly discussions with the role mentor team on the team's operational status. o Document role mentors concerns and issues. Advise and document adjustments where necessary. o Utilize feedback and data to update the curriculum plan for each role mentor that both personalizes the learning experience to the specific role and also aligns with the goals of the role mentors. * To support continuous improvement, lead the surveying process of current METALS students and interviewing METALS alumni. Discuss the feedback with the METALS capstone faculty and the role mentor team for feedback to identify room for improvement. * Ensure that room reservations and food is available for the role mentor sessions. * Provide immediate, written emails to the capstone faculty and METALS managing director on any issues or concerns with any role mentors, teams, or team mentors. * Be available during the week for individual consultations as necessary. * Work with the METALS managing director to hire other role mentors. Qualifications * Master's degree in Educational Technology and Applied Learning Sciences or equivalent. * 2 or more years of industry experience in the specific role mentor position for which you are applying. * Experience with the METALS program and capstone course strongly preferred. * Proven ability to mentor and nurture students and/or new employees * Previous experience as a METALS role mentor strongly preferred.
