S&ME is looking for a motivated and passionate Natural Resources Staff Scientist to join our Natural Resources & Environmental team in Charlotte, NC. Are you ready to contribute your expertise and knowledge to impactful environmental projects? Join us at S&ME!

As a Natural Resources Project Manager, you will oversee diverse and meaningful natural resource projects, ensuring compliance, quality, and sustainability while collaborating with regulatory agencies and clients. This role provides a dynamic mix of field and office work, offering flexibility and the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the community.

Your Day-to-Day



  • Project Leadership: Manage natural resource projects from planning to completion, including budgets, schedules, and client communications.
  • Regulatory Coordination: Work with federal, state, and local agencies to evaluate jurisdictional waters and secure necessary permits.
  • Field Surveys: Conduct wetland delineations, stream assessments, and protected species surveys.
  • Team Collaboration: Guide and mentor team members to achieve safety, quality, and operational objectives.
  • Client Relations: Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing updates and ensuring satisfaction.



What You Bring



  • A Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in wetland delineations, stream determinations, mitigation planning, permitting, and ecological surveys, with a focus on the southeastern U.S.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects effectively, ensuring quality and safety compliance.
  • A proficiency in GIS tools and methods (preferred).
