About the Role:

We have an exciting opportunity to support our Food Safety team as a Sr. Food Safety Manager based in Miami, FL. The Sr. Food Safety Manager provides leadership and guidance to the Subway regional and franchise communities on all food safety initiatives and emerging issues. Guide the strategic implementation of programs and systems to ensure the strictest standards of safety and quality are upheld in all NA markets.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Lead Food Safety team in support of the implementation of corporate food safety and supplier management processes and systems within the NA region.
  • Serve as regional leader providing expertise, support, and guidance to internal and external partners in resolving complex food safety and product quality challenges within the supply chain and at restaurant level. Provide senior mentorship and technical training to junior members of the NA Food Safety & Quality team.
  • Develop, monitor and react to key food safety performance indicators for regional suppliers and restaurants.
  • Act as Subway regional FSQA lead on the cross-functional (IPC, PR, Customer Care, Legal) Incident Management team in charge of responding to and resolving high profile restaurant- and customer-based food safety and quality complaints in the interest of brand protection.
  • Provide oversight for the development of Global FSQA policies, particularly 3rd party laboratory approval, supplier auditing expectations, food safety guidance documents, etc.
  • Develop and strengthen Subway's relationship with local, state, and national (FDA, USDA/FSIS, CFIA, PHAC) regulatory agencies on a proactive basis. Ensure ongoing changes to regulations are communicated internally and that all brand standards are adjusted to ensure franchisee compliance where necessary.



Qualifications (some examples listed below):



  • Degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology, or other related field preferred.
  • 8-12 years related experience.
  • 3 years' experience in a supervisory role.
  • Individual must have a strong knowledge of food microbiology and how it relates to product safety and quality parameters
  • Strong leadership skills to support and direct the Food Safety Team, plus provide guidance to the Quality Assurance Team.
  • Candidate must be comfortable with the formulation and manufacturing controls for all product categories (proteins, dairy, bakery, etc.) supplied within the Subway
    system.
  • He/she must have exceptional communication, writing, presentation, and training skills for audiences from both technical and non-technical backgrounds.
  • Individual must also have strong organizational agility, ability to handle conflict within all levels of the Subway organization, and experience developing working
    relationships with industry and regulatory officials.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of US and Canadian regulatory requirements and the ability to interact effectively with such agencies.
