Job Overview & Essential Functions

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America's largest Kenworth truck Dealership and Leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for an Assistant Branch Manager. The primary function of the Assistant Branch Manager is to assist the Branch Manager in the day-to-day operation of the branch to meet established short and long-term goals and objectives. Assists in planning, directing, and controlling all activities of the branch. Assists in evaluating branch operating results and performance against predetermined objectives. Assists directing sales efforts for the branch.

  • Assesses present and future needs, trends, problems, and profit opportunities of the branch.
  • Ensures approved policies and objectives are clearly understood and effectively applied throughout the branch. Maintains appropriate communications within and between various departments and functional areas within the branch; holds individual conferences as required.
  • Reviews and appraises results of the activities of the departments; works with the Branch Manager to determine if corrective action is needed and ensures action is taken, if necessary.
  • Develops sales strategies with the Branch and Department Managers to ensure that objectives are obtained in the respective departments.
  • Assists with the development and training of personnel and reviews and appraises their performance. Recommends compensation changes in accordance with Company policy. Ensures that the organizational structure of the branch is efficiently planned and adequately and competently staffed.
  • Ensures branch complies with local, state, and federal governmental regulations. Promotes safe work habits and ensures that safety rules are followed. Takes an active role working with the branch Safety Committee.
  • Assists with the development and training of Management Trainees, as applicable, on branch operations, MHC culture, and reviewing the financial statement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications
  • Requires previous management experience.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of all phases of branch operations.
  • Prefer direct automotive/truck sales, leasing, or rental work experience.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Requires strong leadership ability and decision-making skills.
  • Must be willing to relocate, as this is a developmental position.
