Summary

The MIL Corporation seeks a Budget Analyst (Budget Analysis, Associate) to support a federal government client in the Arlington, VA area. The role will be responsible for performing a wide variety of administrative and analytical duties to ensure the successful accomplishment of the federal government client's budget program for the assigned appropriation area. Specific processes may vary depending upon the directorate and/or office assigned, with activities, workflows, and systems/tools governed by SOPs that typically evolve over time. The role must demonstrate an understanding of appropriations law and the nexus to statutory authority and adherence to government approved procedures. All job functions for positions in this series must be performed in accordance with government-approved SOPs.

This position currently requires a hybrid schedule, with 2 days on-site per week, but may vary based on client requirements. Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements. Remote work is not authorized for this position.

Responsibilities



  • Demonstrate understanding of types of funds, status of funds, appropriation lines, and funding authority.
  • Provide budget analysis for all phases of the budgetary process, including formulation, justification, presentation, enactment and/or execution.
  • Formulate and edit consolidated budget requests based on review and analysis of annual or multi-year budget estimates and budget submissions for assigned organizations/programs.
  • Evaluate budget execution based on analysis of obligations and actual expenditures from various sources and in evaluating budget performance based on Department guidance and Bureau mission.
  • Analyze financial and historical data trends to engage in financial due diligence reporting on programs and projects commitment, obligation, costs, and workforce status for planned agency objectives.
  • Engage in research and analysis of internal information to advance an effective assessment of risk factors and identify high risk areas.


Travel

Travel up to 10% may be required, but is not expected on a regular basis.

Required Qualifications



  • 7-10 years of supporting budget analysis for budget formulation, justification, presentation and execution.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the federal budget cycle and skill in formulating, executing, and analyzing budget financial data.
  • Knowledge of Interagency Agreements (IAA)s and Treasury processes, i.e. Treasury FS Form 7600 A and B and/or G-Invoicing.
  • Ability to interpret OMB A-11
  • Knowledge of the Federal Account Symbols and Titles (FAST) Book
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft applications (MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Must be highly organized and have excellent oral and written communication skills to interface with personnel and other government agencies at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience working with databases and other financial systems.
  • Knowledge of accounting skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Education

BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting or other relevant Business Field

Clearance

Secret with eligibility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance; employment is contingent on passing the government clearance process

Salary at MIL is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, and contractual limitations. For this position, the projected compensation range is $90,000 - $130,000 per year. This estimate represents the typical salary range and is just one part of MIL's complete compensation package.
