DEPCOM Power, a Koch Engineered Solutions company, is seeking a Director, Interconnection Engineering. This position can be based in any of the DEPCOM offices or remotely within the U.S. and will require up to 50% travel between project sites, vendors, and various DEPCOM offices to help kickstart business capability. This position will play a pivotal role in the design and implementation of interconnecting facilities to support Solar (PV) and Energy Storage Power Plants. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop a business strategy for engineering project substations and utility-owned switchyards. This will involve both solidifying near-terms strategies to support DEPCOM's pipeline of projects and substations over the next 18 months, and also work to develop internal capabilities around substation design/engineering. This role will benefit from a solid base of engineering talent, while offering opportunity to build out a self-sufficient in-house substation engineering team.

Our Team

This role will report into the broader Systems Engineering team, which is focused on value-driven engineering solutions to support DEPCOM's projects. DEPCOM's share engineering capability supports the broader organization by preparing construction-ready plan sets, as well as lending consistent support and solutions to our construction, commissioning, and operations teams.

What You Will Do

First 12 months

* Assist with Current Projects/Backlog: Oversee electrical designs for Solar and Energy Storage Power Plants from inception to completion, managing multiple projects simultaneously
* Develop a Business Strategy: Partner with Upper Management and other Engineering leadership to create a vision and execution strategy to bring HV/Substation Engineering in-house
* Substation Expertise: Be the DEPCOM HV Technical SME
* Initiate Building Standard Process: Begin developing standard procedures to support accurate and efficient design workflow
* Training Current Staff: Leverage current/existing resources to maximize business results and expand current capabilities

Future

* Lead a team: Manage and develop team members to drive excellence in HV engineering practices, through value engineering, timely delivery, and meeting code and contract requirements
* Be the HV Engineering capability leader: Be a thought leader in creating robust processes and optimizing design practices to support business needs for substations
* Partner with Internal Stakeholders: Partner with Estimating, Subcontracts, Procurement and Project Delivery teams to seamlessly integrate designs with executions plans
* Establish Vendor/Subcontractor Relationships: Foster and maintain new and current vendor relationships for key equipment and construction labor to precisely execute full scope substation builds
* Support Business Development: Assist Business Development in establishing new and existing relationships, developing further potential value
* Develop Strategies: Create long-term, durable and reliable solutions for both Engineering and Procurement to ensure HV value-chain is never a constraint for DEPCOM or it's customers

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
* Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering
* Experience in power systems and substation engineering
* Proficiency in substation specific engineering aspects, including electrical, P&C, and physical layout
* Knowledge of National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, and NFPA 70E
* Experience with power systems software suites (e.g. SKM/ETAP, WinIGS/CDEGs)

What Will Put You Ahead
* Experience in problem solving on active substations builds
* General experience with PV and BESS power plant substations
* Active PE licensure and eligibility for licensure in multiple states

For this role, we anticipate paying $180,000- $200,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
