**Full-Time and Part-Time opportunities available. Minimum team member availability of 2 shifts (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) per week required (32 hours per 2-week pay period). **

Available Days: Monday- Friday

Core Hours: 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Team members hired into the Ambulatory- Resource Center will provide temporary clinical staffing support at 200+ Corewell Health- West ambulatory practices; Primary Health (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine & Pediatrics) to adult and pediatric specialties. Assignments vary in length from a day (covering ill calls, scheduled vacations, volume coverage, etc.) up to 3-4 months (covering leaves of absence, open positions, etc.)

This position does require some travel to various sites around West Michigan. The goal is to keep team members as close to home as possible while meeting business needs. Team members will not be required to travel more than 45 miles (one way) from their home address on file to a work location. Mileage reimbursement is paid if team members are required to travel between sites during the workday.

Compensation is based on a 'flat rate' pay structure and is evaluated on a yearly basis.

Current rates: $23.06/ hr. (certified)

$21.64/ hr. (uncertified)

Provides clinical support to health care professionals to ensure the delivery of quality health care services.

  • Rooming patients (obtaining vitals, chief complaint and taking medical histories, medication reconciliation)
  • Preparing patients for exam and/ or assisting physician during exam
  • Point of Care (POC) testing, electrocardiograms (ECGs), wound care
  • Preparing and Administering medications including immunizations/ Injections
  • Updating patient electronic medical record (Epic)
  • Clean & stock rooms
  • Answering phones and creating patient encounters
  • Prescription medication refills and other clinical administrative work (chart prep, Epic In-basket management)

Essential Functions:

  • Facilitates efficient and effective patient flow including preparing the patient for the visit/admission, and providing specific services and education as determined by the providers in accordance with licensure and policy.
  • Performs necessary administrative duties that assure all information is current and updated. Includes maintenance and monitoring of electronic health record (Epic) in basket.
  • Maintains and cleans environment, work area, equipment, and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department/unit personnel.
  • Greets and communicates with patients and significant others in a manner consistent with caring and respect. Communicates, collaborates and anticipates the needs of the other members of the care team in order to ensure continuity and quality of care and coordination of services.
  • Collects and monitors patient data, reporting patient data and patient needs as directed. Documents care consistent with documentation guidelines, and patient chargeable items/services according to standards.
  • Ensures that processes and services are continuously monitored for quality, cost effectiveness and efficiency. Engages in process and quality improvement activities. Makes and implements recommendations to improve operational efficiency and to implement new services for areas of responsibility.
  • Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field, including best practices, to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities. Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program Required
  • 1 year of relevant experience working in a physician practice or healthcare setting Preferred
  • One of the following Required within 120 Days
  • AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA)
  • NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
  • NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 120 Days
